My name is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I am the coordinator for Orange County, VAGenWeb. I don't live in the area (although I do miss it), so I can't run to the courthouse for you.

An explanation of the menu's is in order here.  The new menu on the left either go directly to an index page or it has, in some instances, subcategories.  EX: Military includes the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Civil War, etc.

There is a lot of different information under Court Records, News Clips and Resources.

Also, be sure to check out the Upper menu, There are links to all of the contacts for the site and the state/county, plus you'll find email forms for everybody on the site.  These are being set up to protect everybody from spam and will take some time to complete.  Under researchers, where available, I've added the Surnames being researched.

That is another thing as well,  I'm opening up the query board again.  Please feel free to send me or author your queries for the site.

Orange County was formed from Spotsylvania in 1734 and was named not from the color of its soil as erroneously stated by Howe and others for there is no soil of orange color in the County but for William Prince of Orange one of England's most worthy kings.

It is my opinion that without folklore & legends we really don't grasp the essence of our families. Out of them you will find facts, even if they are colored just a bit. So, send them in, I want to hear them and I'll put them on the site to be shared with you descendants for all time.

The history section will grow as I complete my research, as will the definitions page. I have to go through my files and pull the obituaries, wills and military information for my family, however I am accepting submissions and would love it if you shared what you have, so send it to me.
